Title: Ain't a Party 'Til Something Breaks
==============================================================================
The Mead Hall, famous for its lively, loud atmosphere, lusty wenches, and generous tankard sizes to suit the hulking people of Kitezh, has hosted special royal parties in the past. This latest was the most memorable yet, as the glowing God-King himself made an appearance after his introduction at Random's Court, and with the help of the Amberite King's magnanimous gift of surplus fine mead, incited kinsmen and guests alike to gorge, guzzle, and carry on in honour of his engagement to Princess Amethyst.. who, apparently, was not personally in attendance.
In addition to a table laden with gifts to the couple, loud patriotic singing, and fast stompy dances, a number of friendly sparring matches broke out for the entertainment of King Viktor and attendees. Prince Gerard was said to pitch Lord Dirk headlong into a vat of mead, rendering the resulting batch almost undrinkable.. almost! Then, to the raucous delight of the Kite gathering, a real fight sparked between two formidable specimens.. bitter and seething.. over a lady acquaintance? Yes, that would be the likely catalyst!
When the verbal exchange escalated abruptly to frenzy, Kincaid, Knight-Commander of the Oisen went for the throat of the supposedly-reformed pirate Captain Merrisol, and it was ON. As Kites thundered encouragement, even level-headed comrades gave up trying to stop them, and the two waged brutal, bloody, booze-fueled battle across numerous tables, with seemingly bottomless reserves of energy and fury. Property damage was almost as alarming as the wounds inflicted, but all was well under the approving gaze of the King of Kitezh. When at last the son of Brand stood in clear triumph (then himself keeled over), the people agreed the bloodthirst quotient alone was met and sent the combatants on their way (in a cart) with a barrel of quality mead as thanks for services rendered. Nevermind whether the underlying issue was even resolved in this manner. But those rarely ever are.
